Freezer paper can usually be purchased in grocery stores where the aluminum foil is, and comes on same type of roll. It sticks to fabric by ironing it on (not sure what side you iron ... I usually just test it). Butchers used to use it to wrap up meat.

It is waxed on one side (slightly shiny)- this melts when you iron it onto the fabric. You can use it several times.

I use freezer paper a lot for applique work as you can draw on it and then cut out the individuale sections and then stitch them in place once the freezer paper has been removed. i also use it in the hoop for small items as i simply remove the design and then use a small piece of freezer paper over teh hole and iron the fabric in position o9nto it make sure you d a bast stitch around the desin so that it is sewn to the paper before starting to embroider. annie in the uk

24824The colours look very bright for fabric printing! Until now I used transfer paper, but your washing soda method sounds great and much cheaper. I think I'll give it a go and then stock-up on printer cartridges :)

plain cotton sheeting is soaked in a washing soda solution and dried then ironed onto freezer paper and printed on with a inkjet printer.

if you look in the projects you will see the photo i put up showing the printed fabric both washed and un washed. the fabric is no stiffer than normal as the paper is removed.
if gently washed its fine but do not use Bio soap and who needs to wash these items that many times anyway. a nice wall hanging isn't exactly washed every week so its fine for that kind of thing but not everyday wear.annie
