I wanted to try something just a little different. I had wanted to make a lapel pin. I used 3 of the sunflower designs to make this pin - I resized the 2nd and 3rd layers so that each was about 15% smaller. I stitched this using WSS and organza. I had sparkle organza, but the picture does not show it too well. I started using metallic gold thread, but after about the 7th breakage I opted to do the 2nd and 3rd layer using a very pretty Sulky gold thread (not metallic). After I rinsed and fomed the flowers and allowed to dry I put it together using beads in the center to similate the seeds. My pin would not stay attached to the back, so I had to hand stitch it. This does not really show the true colors, for the organza was a light gold, and the threads a darker gold. It almost looks brown here - maybe it was my background.

Very Creative and gorgeous to look at. Try using a pale cream background for your photo to allow the sunflower to stand out. Hugs n roses, Meganne

Lovely, you could add a felt circle to the back to put the pin or clip on, would add stability

It actually is pretty stable, for I did not wash all the WSS out. I had thought of putting the felt circle behind, but saw that I was not going to need it. Thanks for responding.

Not much of a pin person myself, but I like it! I see you changed the sizes to make the different layers. I'm just figuring out how to change the size of something so I can use the designs myself.

This is either done in my machine or my software. In this case I reduced the size in my software, and then reduced the size again to get the smaller layer. Give it a try if you have software to do that.

Lovely Pin. Great creativity. Did you try to use FabriTac to glue them together? I can understand why the pin wouldn't stay attached because of the filmy material. It was smart of you to tack it on with thread. It probably gave it more stability. Beautiful work. Terre

I actually tacked them together as I was adding the beading. I think that it helped better with the stability and did not have to put any other backing on it.
