This is mops' lovely rose design embroidered on balsa wood. (The frame is cherry) I took the liberty of adding some colour to the petals and leaves with watercolour. Thanks for the design mops - hope there are going to be more to follow!

Sue this has been tremendously successful on the balsa wood. I have used this design on cards and have also been delighted with the results. I just love your cherry frame - sets the whole thing off beautifully. Thank you for sharing this unusual project. Sarah.

Normal embroidery needle like for card. It will blunt it so don't use a new one!

It is actually a "hardwood" even though it is soft! It comes in lengths 4 inches wide and 1/16th inch thick from a model making shop. It is used for making model aeroplanes. You can stitch on it like you can on card. Simple running stitch designs like this one are about the limit.

Thanks for explaining this to me .I will try & find some in Ontario Carolyn

It looks lovely in the frame. Can hardly believe I digitised this! Thanks for showing. And I'll think about making more low density designs.
