Rolyn, this is lovely! When you use the 'bobbin fill' - is it in the top and the bobbin and what is the purpose of using it?

by roslyn 13 days agoShirlene, The bobbin fill is used in top and bobbin .( the same as you use when you embroider) I wanted a cotton finish- a little stronger than using Embroidery thread.Sews out beautifully too

Outstanding! The lace is beautiful - I see there are 2 different designs - and I love the sprigs of flowers. Great work!!

I admire all the work that you do and as Mops said here, OUTSTANDING! I wish I could just "pop-in" for a cup of tea, admire all your work and ask LOTS of questions from someone who, like a few other Cuties, seems to be in a class of her own! Suzette

Can you explain this more so i can understand more about how one would do this thanks Carolyn

by roslyn 12 days agoOK here goes. I do the lace first and stitch it up by hand . Put them together in the order I like and stitch again. Measure the length and width of what the lace come out to -and rule up the fabric in this case longer than 33 x 22 . about 2 inches larger. Place lace on fabric with lots of pins, measure to make sure all lace co-insides with each other etc. opposites . Then I stitch the lace on using a small zig-zag stitch-using the same thread that I used to make the lace. Stitching SLOWLY ( so that it doesn't pucker and shrink) then I make the zig-zag into satin stitch and adjust the width (same as the first step) stitch around the lace.(don't wash out the watersoluable yet) Then using templates (Using your printer) print out so many of the designs you need. You may need to reverse some of the designs to make the designs look more pleasing. On this one I started at the top and worked down. That way the stems are covered with the next design. The one in the middle is sewn last to cover up both right and left side designs. Do hope that you can understand this.I then use fray stop on the inside of the edge of the lace (sewn to the fabric)allow to dry and then use applique scissors to cut close to the lace as possible .

The lace and the flower design are gorgeous.Beautiful work *4U Lynn.

by roslyn 12 days agothank you Lillian. We do too. My late grandson calls them "mummy break you leg flowers" as Peta was climbing onto the brick wall to ick them one day and I happen to say "that's right , fall off and break the other leg" He was only 3 at the time -so "sweetpeas" are always Mummy break your leg flowers.

I just love your xquisite delicate work. The bobbin fill technique intrigues me? Ros would you mind emailing me with some info, pretty please. melide_menschen@yahoo.com.au ..... I'd really appreciate it. hugs n roses, Meganne
